The latest quite contagious and pathogenic type of bird flu is haunting the poultry business across Canada

A team of scientists at Tufts University has new details about this super spreader specie.

Key author Nichole Hill called it a ‘big blow’ as he is expecting another outbreak soon. So the team tried looking for the past data to identify the historical pattern and then determine which types of birds are driving the spread.

Thus, they started comparing birds at a much finer taxonomical level than previously done, for instance, wild ducks, gulls, land birds, and geese versus domestic poultry like chickens. Which gave the team a better understanding or eventually modeled with more accuracy how we expect a virus like this to spread. This will eventually help them to predict the emergence of the virus and its relative factors like which bird will be more likely to cause this spread and when will this virus enter North America. So, they can target the particular bird population for surveillance.

The human risk of catching avian influenza is very low.
